tell me about it, I decided to take him shopping with me about 2 weeks ago, to Walmart just to get some essentials. He climbs out of the shopping cart and just starts walking around wherever, so when I pick him up to put him in the cart, he screams, says "no", tucks his legs up, and then I put him on the ground, he starts walking wherever pulling stuff he likes off the shelf, stuff I have no intention in buying mind you. So I try to put him in the cart again, same story. So we leave, he's screaming and kicking, and then when we approach the door he wriggles his way down and screams on the floor. Darn baby. So then I left him with my mom so I could actually shop!

imitation is admiration. its not like aaliyah invented her out of nothing. everybody's influenced by someone/something.

Re: Ciara | #28 | ||

oh no, guess what happened on Saturday. I was listening to the radio and they were playing If Your Girl Only Knew, right. Okay so then when the song is over, the DJ goes, there's some classic Aaliyah right there with IYGOK, may she rest in peace, pause...I think uh Ciara (in my mind I say don't say it!)...is the new Aaliyah.
Boy, I was thinking about calling that radio station to tell the DJ a thing or two, but I just said whatever it's not worth it. ![]() |

I know right? lol.
but a better question, why does there have to be a "new Aaliyah", darn the media's insatiable desire to replace her. ![]() |

I think Ciara probably herself probably emails MTV & all these radio stations going "omgz, pls call me the new Aaliyah!". She encourages it

Re: Ciara | #34 | ||

lol...I don't know if I'd go THAT far. In the defense (or defence for Guy) of a lot of artists, they're often told what or who to be, based on what is proven to sell, which is why everything on the radio always sounds the same. Record execs don't jump on the bandwagons, they MAKE the bandwagons..."sound like HIM, dance like HER, talk about THIS, don't talk about THAT or your contract is done." A lot of artists wanna do a lot more than what they do, but it would come out of their own pocket 'cause their label's only gonna pay for what THEY want.

Re: Ciara | #35 | ||
Quote: For me that's one big stretch, guy. It's slightly unfair to say she deliberately makes that parallel. From what I've seen, she just acknowledges it and it ends there. Yeah she's worked with Missy, dances like crazy, puts on a half tomboy/half sexy image and whatever. But by and large, when you play their music, there isn't much comparison (or at least to me). Quite frankly, I'd rather blame the media. Because it's them more than anybody who deliberately make those comparisons. There's no need for anybody to be the next anybody. Just let people be who they are and judge them on whether their work is up to scratch. And JaviaC made a good point about imitation and admiration |
